Legislative Agenda

Local communities, the federal government, and the State of Wisconsin work together to provide a diverse network of public transportation services to Wisconsin’s citizens. These governmental bodies are strong partners in the planning, financing and operation of transit services. As part of this collaborative effort, public funding is used to support both operating and capital investments for urban and rural transportation systems. While there is some federal operating assistance, the state is the major contributor for operating assistance.  Federal funding supports the procurement of transit capital assets. Click below for a chart showing the average funding source percentages for Wisconsin’s transit systems operating expenses.
